Reaction to GenMe

I enjoyed reading Gen Me. In the book, Twenge brought to attention a number of things I had noticed. I agreed with almost everything Twenge said with the exception of a few things. I never noticed the change came with the generation though. I never did have an answer for why these things were taking place, except the world is changing; never did it occur to me that it had to do with the generation. Twenge brought this to my attention and I agree with her. It was almost scary how close the book hit home for me.
I would like to write about why Gen Me is the way we are. Of course Twenge had her own explanations as to why Gen Me is the way we are but I’m not sure if I agree with her answer and I would like to challenge it. It is not just how the generation before us raised us, I believe there is more to it and I would like to get to the bottom of it. I believe I can be able to answer my own questions simply by thinking about it in more depth.
As I stated above, I would like to find out just how our generation became the way we are. Twenge has laid out a number of different problems with our generation, problems I don’t deny are there, but the source of these problems is an unknown. Twenge gave her own explanation but I do not agree with her explanation. Since we aren’t able to use any outside research, hopefully I will be able to look back over the book and find important evidence to help prove Twenge wrong and to answer my question.
